EQUIPMENT

Non-marking runners and athletic shorts/shirt are required. Badminton racquets can be rented for $2 a session; however, rental racquets are limited (less than five) so please arrive early if you need to rent. Advice on racquet purchases is, of course, also readily available from any of our organizers (racquets can be purchased for as low as $30 at most athletic outlets). Racquet grip also available for $2 from the Badminton Director (with free installation help!).

Birdies and nets are supplied by us!

Confused? Don't be! Just show up with a pair of runners and we can help get you started. Oh yeah, just like drop-in fees, racquet rental fees are waived during first session. So if you're unsure, please just show up with your runners to give us a test run.

COMPETITION

To promote and facilitate players who seek a more competitive environment, this year we will be implementing a ladder ranking system. Basically, players or teams wishing to participate in the ladder will have their names entered onto a preliminary ladder. New players can be entered into the ladder at anytime during the year . . . but new players must always start at the bottom of the ladder.

After the ladder is established and players are ranked, participants are allowed to challenge any other player or team above them on the ladder. Winning the challenge will move the victorious player above the player he/she defeated, thus sending the defeated participant (along with all those below him/her on the ladder) down one spot.

Multiple ladders will be available depending on demand. The main ladders will be singles and doubles. There may also be a separate women's ladder and a recreation-level ladder, depending on demand and attendance.

COMMUNITY

We aren't just about sports and competition, we're also about gathering and making new friends. Our new location at Western Canada High School is right on 17th Avenue South . . . the perfect setting to go out for coffee and snacks after a tiring session.

LET'S DANCE!

To facilitate a more cheerful and inviting atmosphere, we'll be pumping out hot tunes from our Absolutely Smashing! ghetto blaster! Bring any hoppin' CDs you'd like to hear while we play.

REGISTRATION

Registration must be made in person with the Badminton Director, either during regular playtime or at a scheduled meeting.
