Apollo Lawn Bowling takes place at the Inglewood Lawn Bowling Club (http://www.ilbc.ca), 1235 - 8th Avenue S.E. on Tuesday evenings all summer long, between 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm.

Lawn bowling may be the only outdoor sport that you can play without putting your refreshment down - so folks are allowed to enjoy their beverages as they play. There is, however, No Smoking on the greens.

SCHEDULE

The league will start Tuesday, June 3, 2008 and run until the end of August.

LOGISTICS

The evening's agenda is always: a BBQ, socializing, and practicing starting at 6:00 pm; 1st game at 7:00 pm; and 2nd game at 8:00 pm - finishing at 9:00 pm.

Teams will be formed on a drop-in basis each week. If there are 4 people who want to play together consistently, that's fine. For everyone else, they can simply play with whoever else shows up.

Each week (4 people per week) will be chosen to act as the next week's "evening facilitators". The "evening facilitators" would be responsible for barbequing, putting the beverages on ice, setting-up the equipment, collecting drop-in fees, running a 50/50 draw, and cleaning up. Since it would be a different group of people each week, everyone should only have to do it once (providing we have enough players in the league). If someone can't work their shift, they must arrange to switch with someone else.

NOTES
  1. League fees include membership to the Inglewood Lawn Bowling Club. Benefits of becoming a member include free bowling (no drop in fee, can bowl whenever the club isn't booked or has free lanes), ability to bowl at other clubs (leagues or tournaments), and rental of the clubhouse for private functions at a discounted rate ($5 per person).
  2. If you plan on playing more than 50% of the time, it is to your advantage to pay the league fee instead of the drop-in fee.
  3. Apollo memberships are available at $15 per person.

EQUIPMENT

The Inglewood Lawn Bowling Club will provide all of the lawn bowling equipment. There isn't a strict dress code, however flat-soled shoes are a must. Sneakers are perfectly acceptable, so are sandals, flip-flops or any other footwear without a heel - so basically, no dress shoes, heeled sandals, boots, pumps, stilettos... In short, whatever you find to be comfortable and doesn't have a heel. Bare feet, however, are not allowed.
